Thanks to a grant received from The Ireland Funds America through Fr. Boyce and the support of the Croagh/Kilfinny Parish Finance Committee, we have been able to upgrade the defibrillator cabinets in Croagh and install a unit in Kilfinny. Over the years we have had numerous problems with the defibrillators due to the weather. These heated cabinets will control the optimum temperature for the defibrillator units and reduce the probability of issues due to the cold weather.

In Kilfinny the new defibrillator has been installed on the front wall of St Kieran's Church and will be visible from the road as it is well lit up at night. In Croagh, the defibrillator at the GAA grounds is now installed at the front door of the sports complex, whilst the one in the village remains on the front wall of the GAA Hall (Carnegie Library) opposite the school.

Thanks to Tomas O Connor who has arranged for the upgrading of these vital defibrillators facilities within our community and thanks to those who regularly check up on their working order. When some level of normality resumes and it is safe to do so, we will organise CFR (Cardiac First Responder) training for anyone in the parish that would like to avail of it. The course should take about 3 to 4 hours in an evening and cover topics like Cardiac Arrest, Stroke, Heart Attack, Choking, and CPR with the defibrillator in infants, children and adults.
